Getting Certified with Java SE 7

Getting Certified with Java SE 7

So, you want to get your Oracle Java Certification?

Well, here is a list of things you should do in your journey of getting Java Certified.

What you should not do during your preparation:

  • Don't study at work. This is not fair to your employer or their customer
  • Don't become dependent of the code completion features of an IDE
  • Don't wear blinders; cross training for other certifications can be beneficial
  • Don't rush to get certified
  • And don't feel that getting certified is the end of your journey, it is just the beginning.

Good luck on your exam.  And once you have passed, make sure you share your accomplishment on Code Ranch's OCAJP Wall of Fame.

  1. Hello Robert,

Your first sentence on your recommendation list is:
"Don't study at work. This is not fair to your employer or their customer"...

I do not agree with you. Mainly that this is your very first recommendation.

Studying and getting to know the newest features belong also to the daily activities of an employee.
Of course it should not be the 90% of the day but I think 10% can be acceptable if it goes about a temporar activity for example preparing for a java exam.
But of course during developing it is a MUST that the developer tunes not only the codes but his know-how too and read the documentation!

In this case not only the employee can profit from it but also the employeer.

    I would correct your list...

    Otherwise congratulations on your blog!
